including the following areas, in Southwest North Carolina,
Cherokee and Clay. In East Tennessee, Anderson, Bledsoe,
Blount Smoky Mountains, Bradley, Campbell, Claiborne, Cocke
Smoky Mountains, East Polk, Grainger, Hamblen, Hamilton,
Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Marion, McMinn, Meigs, Morgan, NW
Blount, North Sevier, Northwest Cocke, Northwest Monroe, Rhea,
Roane, Scott TN, Sequatchie, Sevier Smoky Mountains, Southeast
Monroe, Union, and West Polk.
* Until 7 PM EST /6 PM CST/ this evening
* The heavier rains have ended, but there is still a threat for
rising waters in some areas as runoff waters collect in streams
and possibly run across some roadways.
* Avoid low lying areas...and be careful when approaching highway
dips and underpasses. If you come to a closed or flooded
road...Turn around! Don`t drown! Allow additional time to

.A strong, slowly progressing storm system and associated frontal
boundary will continue to produce a very moist southerly flow
over the Tennessee Valley and southern Appalachians today.
The Gulf moisture will contribute to periods of rain,
occasionally heavy with a chance of thunderstorms today. Flooding
has been reported across parts of southwest Virginia, Plateau,
and western sections of the Tennessee Valley. The worst hit areas
so far has been Wise and Lee Counties of Virginia.
The periods of heavy rain, especially this morning, may produce
additional flooding of low-lying areas, street flooding, and
stream and river flooding.
