...Heavy Rainfall and Minor Flooding Possible Sunday and Monday...
As an upper level system wobbles across the Southeastern U.S.,
moderate to heavy rainfall will overspread Northern Alabama and
Southern Middle Tennessee Sunday and Monday. While the heaviest
rainfall should occur late Sunday afternoon and especially during the
evening/overnight hours into Monday, rainfall will begin as early as
Sunday morning, and will taper off late in the day Monday.
Rainfall totals during this time will vary, with widespread amounts
of two to three inches possible. Isolated higher amounts upwards of
three and a half or more inches are possible, especially in locations
where heavy rainfall trains or repeatedly moves across an area.
Though we`ve been dry since the last heavy rainfall event last
Saturday, this amount of rainfall in the short period of time it
falls may lead to minor flooding of creeks, streams, smaller rivers,
and especially low-lying areas. Widespread flooding of larger
rivers/tributaries (like the Tennessee River) isn`t expected, but if
rainfall amounts change or increase, this may occur.
