MCDOWELL...MITCHELL...CALDWELL...AVERY...EASTERN YANCEY AND BURKE
COUNTIES...
At 844 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated an area of very heavy
rainfall across the warned area. Three to four inches of rain have
fallen across parts of the warned area since 11 AM. A few reports of
flooding have been received from around Glenwood and southwest of
Lake James in McDowell County.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lenoir, Morganton, Marion, Spruce Pine, Newland, Gamewell, Cajah`s
Mountain, Drexel, Glen Alpine and Old Fort.
Additional rainfall amounts of one-quarter to one-half inches are
possible in the warned area. The rain should move out of the region
by 930 pm, but some creeks and streams east of the Blue Ridge will
run at or above bankfull through at least 11 pm.
