ALLEGHANY...WILKES...WATAUGA AND ASHE COUNTIES IN NORTHWESTERN NORTH
CAROLINA...
At 156 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated bands of showers across the
region. This rainfall combined with earlier downpours will cause
minor flooding as smaller creeks and streams continue to rise.
Overflowing poor drainage areas will result in minor flooding in the
advisory area. Up to three inches of rain have already fallen
especially in the Blowing Rock area. Water was also reported over
the Dewitt Barnett bridge in Valle Crucis.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Boone...
North Wilkesboro...
Wilkesboro...
Sparta...
and Jefferson.
Additional rainfall of another inch or two is expected over the
area. This additional rain will make for minor flooding.
