especially east of the Blue Ridge. The threat for flash flooding
will be highest across the foothills and piedmont sections until
Michael passes. The threat for heavy rain should finally taper off
after sunset.

* Portions of northwest North Carolina and southwest Virginia,
including the following areas, in northwest North Carolina,
Alleghany NC, Ashe, Watauga, and Wilkes. In southwest
Virginia, Grayson, Smyth, and Wythe.
* Until 8 PM EDT this evening
* Runoff from earlier heavy rain may lead to lingering flood or
flash flooding until early this evening.
