...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 615 PM EDT
FOR VANCE...GRANVILLE...WAKE AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES...
At 544 PM EDT, gusty winds on the backside of Tropical Storm Michael
continue to spread southeast across the warned area, producing areas
of straight line wind damage as they progress. The front edge of
these winds were located along a line extending from near Oxford
through Franklinton to 6 miles south of Cary, moving southeast at 35
mph. A quick spin up tornado can`t be ruled out at this time.
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
SOURCE...Emergency management confirmed damage reports from these
winds across the northwestern Piedmont and Foothills of
North Carolina.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Locations impacted include...
Raleigh, Cary, Henderson, Oxford, Creedmoor, Louisburg, Wake Forest,
Garner, Fuquay-Varina and Butner.
A tornado watch remains in effect until 900 PM EDT for central North
Carolina.
