The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a
* Flood Advisory for...
Western Rowan County in the Piedmont of North Carolina...
* Until 230 AM EDT Friday.
* At 824 PM EDT, excessive runoff continues across western and
northern Rowan County. As a result, stream levels remain elevated
and a few streams remain out of their banks across western and
northern Rowan County including Second Creek, Third Creek, Fourth
Creek, the S Yadkin River and associated tributaries. Isolated
road closures remain, including on White Road north of NC 150 at
Kerr Creek. Because the flood severity has improved across
western Rowan County, but residual flooding remains, the previous
Flood Warning has been allowed to expire and a Flood Advisory will
take its place.
* Action Stage/Advisory flooding is nuisance flooding of low-lying
areas adjacent to streams above bankfull. These areas include
greenways, parks, farmland, and perhaps a few low-water crossings.
Please avoid streams and adjacent areas until the high flows
have fully receded.
* Some locations that may continue to experience flooding
include...Salisbury, Spencer, Cleveland, Mount Ulla, Piedmont
Research Station, Woodleaf and Cooleemee.
