CAROLINA AND PORTIONS OF UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA AND NORTHEAST
GEORGIA INTO TONIGHT...
.Strong northwest winds are expected to linger across the
mountains through the day. Winds will increase across the Piedmont
and foothills after sunrise and continue into the afternoon and
evening. While the strong winds will begin to subside across much
of the area late in the day, strong winds are expected to continue
near the Blue Ridge in North Carolina through tonight.
...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EST SATURDAY...
* LOCATIONS...The high elevations of southwest North Carolina and
northeast Georgia.
* HAZARDS...Strong to damaging winds from the northwest, mainly
in the high elevations.
* TIMING...Strong high elevation winds will reach their peak late
this morning into the early afternoon, then very slowly
diminish tonight into Saturday morning.
* WINDS...Northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph in the
valleys. Winds in the high elevations will frequently gust to 50
to 60 mph.
* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Trees,
limbs, and power lines could be blown down, resulting in
isolated to scattered power outages.
