has extended the Flood Warning for the following rivers in North
Carolina...
TUCKASEGEE RIVER At Bryson City affecting Swain County
The river has crested at the Minor Flood Stage of 10.0 ft and is now
receding, but the river remains above the Action Stage of 8.0 ft.
Therefore, the Flood Warning will continue for flooding of low-lying
areas.
Storm-total rainfall of 2-4 inches across the Tuckasegee watershed
has generated significant runoff and caused resultant rises along the
Tuckasegee River and its tributaries. Nuisance flooding continues
in low-lying areas along the river. The heaviest rainfall has
already occurred and additional rainfall should be less than one-half
inch, which should have minimal impact on the Tuckasegee River.
The Flood Warning continues for
The Tuckasegee River At Bryson City.
* At 4:00 PM Sunday the stage was 9.2 feet and falling slowly.
* Action Stage is 8.0 feet.
* Minor Flood Stage is 10.0 feet.
* Action Stage flooding is ongoing.
* Forecast...The river will continue to recede and fall below Action
Stage by early Monday morning.
* Impact...At 9.0 feet...River will overflow its banks and will begin
to move into the Bear Hunter Campground near Bryson City.
