AND GRAHAM COUNTIES...
At 410 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain which will cause Minor flooding in the advisory area.
Over the past 6 hours, 1-3 inches of rain have fallen with
additional rainfall of 1-2 inches over the next 6 hours likely.
Minor flooding is defined as flooding of common low-lying areas,
greenways, parks, low-water crossings, river access areas, and
adjacent campgrounds. Persons are encouraged to avoid areas
adjacent to streams.
Street and low-lying area flooding especially around Bryson City is
likely. Drivers and persons are encouraged to exercise extreme
caution and avoid flooded roadways or other low-lying areas.
The most intense rainfall has occurred over the Deep Creek watershed
just north of Bryson City. Residents and campers are encouraged to
seek higher ground as stream levels will be rising rapidly and
Flash flooding is possible.
Rapid-rises on the following streams and associated tributaries is
likely and Minor flooding is possible: Deep Creek, Lands Creek,
Noland Creek, Cooper Creek, Raven Fork, Snowbird Crreek, Little
Santeetlah Creek, Cheoah River, Oconaluftee River, and Tuckasegee
River.
