  • ...A BRIEF PERIOD OF WET SNOW IS EXPECTED ACROSS A LARGE PORTION
    OF EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA THIS EVENING...
    .Developing low pressure will track northeast off of the North
    Carolina coast through this evening. The low will initially
    produce widespread rain across the area through late afternoon,
    then this evening, colder air will filter into region causing the
    precipitation to change over to snow for a couple of hours.
    Temperatures will likely remain above freezing when it snows,
    however, a minor accumulation will be possible on grassy
    surfaces, and some elevated surfaces such as bridges and
    overpasses producing some slick spots.
    The snow is expected to end around midnight, but low temperatures
    are forecast to fall to or just below freezing. Where heavier snow
    falls, some slick spots in the form of black ice could affect the
    Tuesday morning commute.
