.The sound side of the Outer Banks saw significant storm surge
last night. Conditions are improving quickly this morning as
winds diminish, but expect minor flooding to linger for the next
several hours. Water levels will continue to improve and recede
through the morning. A high risk of rip currents continues along
the beaches today.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS
EVENING...
* HAZARDS...Minor sound side flooding and a high risk of rip
currents.
* TIDAL DEPARTURE...Up to 2 feet above ground level.
* TIMING AND TIDES...Water levels will gradually recede through
the morning. The most likely time for strong rip currents to
occur is a couple hours either side of low tide, which will
occur around 5:00 PM this evening.
* SURF HEIGHT...3 to 6 feet.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Minor sound side flooding will
continue for areas adjacent to the Albemarle and Pamlico
Sounds, with highest values north of Cape Hatteras. Some roads
may still be impassable this morning. Water levels will
continue to recede and improve through the morning as winds
continue to diminish.
