...THE FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 730 PM EDT FOR CENTRAL
HAYWOOD COUNTY...
At 630 PM EDT, isolated areas of heavy rainfall remain across the
Advisory area and streams remain elevated. Additional thunderstorms
containing torrential rainfall are entering the Advisory area which
may produce another quick 0.50-1.50 inches of rainfall. These
storms are moving quickly and should only prolong elevated stream
levels temporarily. Additional isolated Minor flooding is possible
into the early evening hours.
Minor flooding is defined as flooding of low-lying areas next to
streams, farmland, recreational areas, greenways, and boat access
ramps. A few secondary roads may be impacted as well. Streamflows
will be faster than usual. Caution is advised anywhere near such
areas.
The following streams and their associated tributaries continue to
remain elevated and flooding of adjacent low-lying areas remains
possible: Jonathans Creek, Crabtree Creek, Long Branch, Dawn Branch,
Rush Fork and other streams in the central Pigeon River Valley.
Some locations that may continue to experience flooding include...
Cove Creek and Smoky Mountains-Cataloochee.
