NORTH CAROLINA...
.A slow-moving cold front and ample moisture originating out of
the Gulf of Mexico will focus periods of heavy rain across the
North Carolina mountains through this evening. The heavy rain
will be capable of producing flash flooding across the area.
...FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT TONIGHT...
The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for
* a portion of western North Carolina, including the following
areas, Avery, Graham, Haywood, Macon, Madison, Mitchell,
Northern Jackson, Swain, and Yancey.
* until midnight EDT tonight
* Showers and thunderstorms with periods of moderate to heavy
rainfall, in association with a slow moving cold front, will
continue across the area into the evening. Runoff from this
heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding.
* People in the watch area should be aware of the threat of
heavy rainfall. Avoid low lying areas and be careful when
approaching highway dips and underpasses. Do not drive through
flooded spots on roads, especially if you do not know how deep
the water is.
