North Carolina this afternoon through mid evening, producing very
heavy rainfall.
...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* A portion of central North Carolina, including the following
areas, Alamance, Chatham, Cumberland, Davidson, Durham,
Edgecombe, Forsyth, Franklin, Granville, Guilford, Halifax,
Harnett, Hoke, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Nash, Orange, Person,
Randolph, Sampson, Vance, Wake, Warren, Wayne, and Wilson.
* Through late tonight
* Heavy rain will continue over central North Carolina. The
heaviest rainfall is expected to be over the northern Piedmont,
northern and central Coastal Plain, and far eastern Sandhills.
Storm total rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches are expected in
this area, with amounts of 2 to 3 inches expected east of
Highway 1. Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are
possible.
* These rainfall amounts and intensities may produce flash
flooding, particularly in low lying and poor drainage areas,
and near creeks, streams, and ditches. Flash flooding is also
possible in urban areas and creeks that are susceptible to
urban runoff issues, such as Crabtree and Buffalo Creeks.
