...HEAVY RAINFALL EXPECTED ACROSS EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA THROUGH
TONIGHT...
.Tropical Storm Michael will lift across central North Carolina
today and off the southeast Virginia coast late tonight bringing
heavy tropical downpours across the region. The greatest rainfall
amounts are expected across western sections but heavy rainfall
rates may produce localized flooding to prone areas anywhere
across the region.
...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING...
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* A portion of eastern North Carolina, including the following
areas, Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Duplin, Greene, Jones,
Lenoir, Mainland Dare, Mainland Hyde, Martin, Onslow, Outer
Banks Dare, Outer Banks Hyde, Pamlico, Pitt, Tyrrell, and
Washington.
* Through Friday morning.
* Heavy rainfall will spread into the region today, then taper
off late tonight. Storm total rainfall amounts will range from 1
to 3 inches with localized higher amounts.
* This rainfall could produce flash flooding, particularly in
poor drainage areas near creeks, streams and ditches. Street
flooding is likely. In addition, the ground remains saturated
due to heavy rainfall last month from Hurricane Florence. As a
result, it will not take much rainfall to produce additional
flooding.
