.A reinforcing cold front will cross the Appalachians from the
northwest tonight and bring renewed cold air and very windy
conditions back into the mountains. Bitter or dangerous wind chill
values will likely result across the mountains. Very windy
conditions will develop and persist as well.

THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING...
* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills expected. Expect wind chills
to fall to 15 to 25 degrees below zero. Very windy conditions
will also develop, with northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph arriving
overnight, with gusts of 40 to 50 mph at times, especially along
the higher ridges.
* WHERE...Avery, Yancey and Mitchell Counties in the northern
mountains of western North Carolina.
* WHEN...For the Wind Chill Warning, from 10 PM this evening to
noon EST Thursday. For the Wind Chill Watch, from Thursday
evening through Friday morning. Very windy conditions will
develop overnight and persist into Thursday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS....The dangerously cold wind chills will
cause frostbite in as little as 10 minutes to exposed skin.
