The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has extended
the
* Flood Advisory for...
Northeastern McDowell County in western North Carolina...
Northwestern Caldwell County in western North Carolina...
Southeastern Avery County in western North Carolina...
Northwestern Burke County in western North Carolina...
* Until 800 AM EDT Thursday.
* At 151 AM EDT, runoff from earlier heavy rainfall has maintained
minor flooding conditions across the area as streams are slow to
recede.
* Streams are cresting but flooding will continue for the next
several hours as levels remain near or slightly above Minor Flood
Stage. Therefore, the Flood Advisory has been extended to 8 AM.
Please continue to avoid common flood-prone areas and roads and
heed all barricades.
* Additional moderate to heavy rainfall may develop through the
morning, and this rainfall will likely cause new flooding to
develop. Please stay weather aware.
* The following roadways are currently inundated by floodwaters:
Brown Mountain Beach Rd, Fish Hatchery Rd, and Old Johns River Rd.
* The following stream gauge remains above Minor Flood Stage: Johns
River at Arneys Store 6 N Morganton.
Current Stage: 12.87 feet and slowly falling.
Forecast: The Johns River should continue to recede this morning
unless new heavier rainfall develops.
Action Stage: 9.0 feet.
Minor Flood Stage: 12.0 feet.
