  • ...COASTAL FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT...
    The National Weather Service in Taunton has issued a Coastal
    Flood Watch, which is in effect late Wednesday night.
    * LOCATION...Massachusetts northeast coast from Salisbury to Cape
    Ann including Newburyport, Plum Island, Ipswich, Gloucester, and
    Rockport.
    * TIDAL DEPARTURE...2.5 to 3 feet storm surge.
    * TIMING...Thursday early morning high tide, mainly 3 to 5 AM.
    This is the only high tide cycle of concern for this storm.
    * COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Minor to moderate coastal flooding with
    inundation as high as 2 feet possible in spots. Some overwash
    from large breakers possible. Vulnerability from prior storm may
    exacerbate impacts.
    * SHORELINE IMPACTS...Erosion likely from large surf breaking
    onshore during the high tide. Note that the prior storm has
    increased the vulnerability of the coastline.
    &&
    Time of high total tides are approximate to the nearest hour.
    Category thresholds are based on still water levels. Impacts
    may be greater, depending upon wave action.
