  • ...EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH NOW IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING
    THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING...
    * TIMING...An extended period of heat will begin to develop on
    Wednesday and likely peak on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The
    most intense and dangerous heat is expected from the late
    morning into the early evening on Thursday, Friday, and
    Saturday. Although Sunday may be a little cooler, heat index
    values in excess of 100 degrees will likely continue.
    * HEAT INDEX VALUES...Up to 110 due to temperatures in the upper
    90s, and dewpoints in the mid 70s.
    * IMPACTS...The likely combination of hot temperatures and high
    humidity will lead to an increased risk of heat-related stress
    and illness. The very young, the elderly, those without air
    conditioning, and those participating in strenuous outdoor
    activities will be the most susceptible. Also, car interiors
    can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
