Sharon "Sy" Lewis, the Executive Director of Meadows Eastside Community Resource Organization sat down with "Conversations With The Citizen" to discuss the Training and Business Support offered through MECRO. MECRO representative Lewis spoke about their latest initiative ,"Light Up The Night". This is a program in partnership with ComEd, where they provide special blubs to neighborhood block that would normally be dark due to the lack of efficient street lightings.

Quo Vados sat down to talk with "Conversation with the Citizen" recently to discuss how now is the time to begin building generational wealth buy purchasing real estate. Quo believe that one way to get the ball rolling is to start while your children are young. You can pay for college as well through a real estate wealth building plan. Desiree` Watkins, trustee of Olympia Fields, is a candidate for President of the Village of Olympia Fields. Watkins said she is a public servant who is doing it for the people. Watkins has been a resident of the Southland area for 20 years. The Detroit-native and her husband Neil L. Watkins, MD, own 20/20 Eye Specialists, with two locations in Indiana. Desiree` Watkins runs the company.

Matteson has been experiencing growth and economic development in the last few years, after having to regroup when economic engines, such as Lincoln Mall, left the South Suburban village. Leading the charge toward an upturn is Sheila Chalmers-Currin. Chalmers-Currin has been president of the Village of Matteson for three and a half years. Prior to that, she was a trustee for the Village for eight years.

Future Ties started out with a thought by its founder, Jennifer Maddox, a police officer for 25 years. Maddox was patrolling area 312, which includes Parkway Garden Apartments, and was getting so many calls for service that she wanted to do something to reduce the number of calls in a way that would be impactful to the residents. She said it was something she wanted to do, but wasn’t sure how to get it started.
