Former President Barack Obama joined German Chancellor Angela Merkel at the Brandenburg Gate in
Berlin, Germany, recently to discuss how young people can become better democratic leaders and serve local and global communities. According to an Obama press release, a group of young people from Mannheim, Germany traveled to Chicago through a Kirchentagrelated program in 2017, and
met with young adults from the Trinity United Church of Christ on the South Side of Chicago. These selected youth learned about each other’s respective cultures and developed a musical, which was performed during the celebrations for the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. Photo by Pete
