Illinois Service Federal Savings and Loan Acquired by Nduom Family
In 1994, there were 54 black-owned banks in this country, according the FDIC (Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation) and just 22 years later, there are only 21 remaining. These 21 banks have a total of $4.7 billion dollars in assets, but only count as 0.43 % of the $1.1 trillion in black buying power.
