Cornelius began his media career as an announcer at WVON. He then began to develop a pilot for a music show at WCIU-TV. In 1970, Soul Train hit the airwaves and a few years later the show gained national syndication and moved to Los Angeles. (Photo by Isidra Person-Lynn)
