The Obama Presidential Center is set to open in 2025-2026. Phase one of the opening will take place in Fall 2025, with Home Court, the Programs and Athletic Center. Phase two will be the big grand opening of the full campus in Spring 2026.

May is Haitian Heritage Month and each year on May 18th, Haitians celebrate the Haitian flag, which symbolizes their fight for freedom and independence. During the month of May, Haitian culture, history, food, heritage and the language is celebrated through a series of events. Locally, the Coalition of Haitian-American Organizations of the Chicagoland Area celebrated the creation of Haitian-American Heritage Month, with Mayor Brandon Johnson and City Council.
After unanimous votes in both the Senate and House, the Illinois legislature passed Senate Bill 3318, an initiative of the Alzheimer’s Association that ensures state employee health insurance provides coverage for all FDA-approved Alzheimer’s treatments. Illinois is the first state in the country to legislatively enact this requirement for Alzheimer’s treatment coverage, further expanding access to these new drugs that slow the progression of the disease.
