for Upcoming November 3 Gubernatorial General Election

Suburban residents can earn $250 to $400 while helping their neighbors vote


The Cook County Clerk’s Office is putting out the call for Election Judges ahead of the November 3 Gubernatorial General Election, giving suburban residents the opportunity to do their part for democracy and earn some cash in the process.


Clerk Monica Gordon is issuing a call for residents across suburban Cook County to serve as Election Day workers. These poll workers play a critical role in ensuring polling places operate smoothly, voters receive the assistance they need, and elections are administered securely and efficiently.


“Our Democracy needs everyday people who are willing to roll up their sleeves and help make Election Day work,” said Clerk Gordon. “Our poll workers are essential to the success of every election, and their service helps ensure that voters across Cook County can cast their ballots with confidence.”


While the Clerk’s Office is seeking Election Judges and Polling Place Technicians countywide, there is a particular need in North and West Cook County townships, including Barrington, Elk Grove, Hanover, Lemont, Leyden, Lyons, Maine, Northfield, Palatine, Proviso, Schaumburg, and Wheeling.


The Clerk’s Office is seeking workers for two Election Day positions:

  • Election Judge: $250: Election Judges help greet and assist voters, check voters in, maintain an orderly polling place, and work together to ensure Election Day operations run smoothly.
  • Polling Place Technician: $400: Polling Place Technicians work with Election Judges to check supplies and voting equipment and assist with the setup, operation, maintenance and breakdown of election equipment. Because of the additional equipment responsibilities, Technicians receive additional training and earn $400.

The Clerk’s Office is also seeking bilingual Election Judges in many precincts with high concentrations of Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Tagalog, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Gujarati, Urdu, and Arabic-speaking voters who are not proficient in English and may need special assistance at the polls. College and High School students are also encouraged to serve.


Election Judges must be a registered Cook County voter or an eligible college or high school student.


Anyone who wishes to serve on Election Day is encouraged to apply as soon as possible, so they will have time to take a required training class that best fits their schedule.
