REP. ROBERT “BOB” RITA JOINS LOCAL OFFICIALS IN GROUNDBREAKING OF NEW VILLAGE GREEN DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
State Rep. Robert “Bob” Rita recently joined Calumet Park Mayor Ronald Denson and local elected officials for a groundbreaking of the new Village Green development project funded by $3 million in state grant funds secured by Rep. Rita.
Rita joined with elected officials on Aug. 1 for a ceremonial groundbreaking of the Village Green, which will transform a vacant field in the city into a dynamic 100,000 square-foot multi-use community part and event space.
Once completed next year, the Village Green will host a picnic pavilion for families, a splash pad for all ages to enjoy, a walking path, a gazebo, a communal plaza for vendors and community markets, and a grand playground with shade and ADA access.
“The Village Green is set to become an exciting attraction in Calumet Park offering residents of all ages new opportunities to come together and enjoy their community,” Rita said. “I am proud to have secured the state grant dollars to fund this effort to improve the quality of life in Calumet Park.”
