Civil Rights Icon Cecil Williams Endorses Brandon Brown

SOUTH CAROLINA — The Brandon Brown for U.S. Senate campaign is proud to announce the endorsement of civil rights icon, renowned photographer, and founder of the South Carolina Civil Rights Museum, Cecil Williams.

For decades, Williams has been one of South Carolina’s most respected moral voices, documenting the Civil Rights Movement and preserving the stories of those who fought for justice and equality across the South.

In endorsing Brandon Brown, Williams said:

“I’ve known Brandon for a long time. I trust his heart and his ability to deliver for all of us. That’s why I’m endorsing him and encouraging everyone to vote for him.”

Brown said he is deeply honored to receive Williams’ support.

“Cecil Williams is a living legend whose life has been dedicated to truth, justice, and uplifting our people,” Brown said. “To earn his trust and endorsement means the world to me. His work helped shape South Carolina’s conscience, and I will carry that spirit of courage and service with me to the United States Senate.”

Brown, a Greenville native, former vice president of three HBCUs, and small business owner, is running a grassroots campaign focused on expanding economic opportunity, lowering costs, defending healthcare access, and delivering real results for working families across South Carolina.

The endorsement adds to growing momentum behind Brown’s campaign as it continues building a coalition of leaders, workers, educators, students, and community advocates from every corner of the state.
