Congressional Black Caucus Condemns Pritzker For Heavy-Handing In Senate Race. According to new reporting, the Congressional Black Caucus is warning Governor JB Pritzker to stop heavy-handing in the Illinois U.S. Senate race. The Congressional Black Caucus was founded in 1971 and strives to use the full Constitutional power, statutory authority, and financial resources of the federal government to ensure that African Americans and other marginalized communities in the United States have the opportunity to achieve the American Dream.
Congressional Black Caucus Chair and New York Congresswoman Yvette Clarke said,“Governor Pritzker’s effort to tip the scales in Illinois’ U.S. Senate race is beyond frustrating for the Congressional Black Caucus. A sitting governor shouldn’t be heavy-handing the race. Quite
frankly, his behavior in this race won’t soon be forgotten by any of us.”
Pritzker is funding a super PAC for his Lieutenant Governor, Juliana Stratton, and has spent at least $5 million so far to boost her over opponent, Southland Congresswoman Robin Kelly. Kelly has been in Congress since 2013.
The Illinois Democratic primary is on March 17th. The three top candidates include Robin Kelly, Raja Krishnamoorthi, and Juliana Stratton.
