Chicago Members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Join African American Male Wellness Agency for 3rd Annual Black Men's Wellness Day

CHICAGO, June 16, 2026 — On Saturday, June 20, 2026, Chicago members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity will join the African American Male Wellness Agency for a massive convening of health, wellness, and community resources in one of the most impactful single day men's wellness events in recent memory.

The 3rd Annual Black Men's Wellness Day is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, starting at 7am at Washington Park South (5531 S. Russell Dr.). What began three years ago as a Father's Day CookOWT, a simple yet powerful celebration of Black fatherhood in the community, has grown into one of Chicago's most anticipated events of Father's Day Weekend.

"Over time, we expanded our vision to encompass Black fatherhood and the mental and physical health of the men in our community," said Sean Long, visionary founder of the original CookOWT and President of the One Omega Foundation. "Last year, we had over 4,000 attendees, and we were honored to partner with the African American Men's Wellness Agency (AAMWA) out of Columbus, Ohio."

The partnership with AAMWA has elevated this event into a celebration of fatherhood that addresses long-held social taboos around men's health in the Black community.

"Chicago has always been an important part of the Black Men's Wellness Day movement, and we are excited to return this weekend to continue our mission of bringing the clinic to the community. Through free health screenings, education, resources, and family-focused engagement, we are meeting people where they are and making it easier to take charge of their health before a crisis occurs. This is exactly what 'Get Checked Out, Not Checked In' is all about," said Kenny R. Hampton, President, African American Male Wellness Agency.

Other partners and sponsors making the 2026 Chicago Black Men's Wellness Day possible include Pfizer, AbbVie, Johnson & Johnson, and Habilitative Systems Inc. (HSI).

The 2026 event was initially planned for Bob Pickens Field in Jackson Park. Organizers moved it to Washington Park South based on anticipated attendance and logistical considerations surrounding the opening of the Obama Presidential Center.

Black Men's Wellness Day 2026 will feature:

  • Free health screenings
  • A Kids Zone for families
  • A 5K Run/Walk for the community
  • Live performances and DJ entertainment
  • A community Father's Day CookOWT to close the day
  • Recognition of a Father of the Year honoree, presented with a custom Father of the Year wrestling belt. This year's belt is named in honor of Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr.

The One Omega Foundation, Inc. is the philanthropic collective of the 13 Chicagoland chapters of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
