Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller, Sheriff Tom Dart, and Glenwood-Lynwood Public Library to Host Community Recycling Event
LYNWOOD, IL — Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller, in partnership with Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart and the Glenwood-Lynwood Public Library District, will host a free community recycling event on Friday, July 31, 2026, providing residents with a safe and convenient opportunity to responsibly dispose of unwanted household items.
The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., or until collection trucks reach capacity, at the Glenwood-Lynwood Public Library, located at 19901 Stony Island Avenue in Lynwood.
Residents are encouraged to bring unused or expired medications for safe disposal, confidential documents for secure shredding, and unwanted electronics for recycling. To accommodate as many participants as possible, only one television per household will be accepted.
"This event makes it easy for area residents to safely dispose of items that can be harmful to our environment or pose a safety risk," said Commissioner Donna Miller. "I appreciate the Glenwood-Lynwood Public Library for offering to host this event and Sheriff Dart for partnering with my office to provide this important community service."

The event is free and open to the public. Participants are encouraged to arrive early, as collection will end once the trucks have reached capacity.
