As Juliana surges in new poll, Raja turns to crypto industry MAGA super PAC to smear Juliana

 CHICAGO – Today, Lieutenant GovernorJuliana Stratton, Congressman Chuy García, Chicago City Clerk Anna Valencia, 48th Ward Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth, and representatives from the Service Employees International Union, and Illinois Federation of Teachers gathered in Daley Plaza to send a clear message: MAGA money will not decide Illinois’ next Senator. The emergency press conference was called in response to news that a crypto industry super PAC, backed by MAGA donors, is launching a multi-million dollar smear campaign against Juliana in an effort to boost Raja Krishnamoorthi’s stalled campaign. Juliana and supporters gathered to call on Krishnamoorthi to immediately reject support from his MAGA-backed super PAC and call for their smear ads to be pulled down. The news of the smear campaign comes as a new poll this week shows Juliana Stratton surging and Raja Krishnamoorthi losing ground. Despite pouring over $25 million into this race, Raja continues to lose support with voters while Juliana continues to gain ground.

“No amount of MAGA money can erase Congressman Krishnamoorthi’s biggest weakness: his own record. He voted to fund ICE, he voted to thank ICE, and he’s spent a decade shamelessly cozying up to the same MAGA forces he claims he’ll fight against,” said Juliana Stratton. “We won’t be intimidated. Illinoisans deserve better than the MAGA-backed special interests trying to put their thumb on the scale of this race, and the fact that Congressman Krishnamoorthi isn’t willing to say that speaks volumes.”

“Democracy should be about ideas, integrity, and commitment to community, not who can raise the most money,” said Congressman Chuy García. “We've got to do everything that we can to protect a system where the most qualified leaders can serve, not just those backed by corporate interests or wealthy donors. Communities deserve representatives who answer to the people and not to contracts, profits, or investments, and that's why I'm proud to stand with Juliana.”

“We are done with politicians, not public servants. And Raja is a politician,” said Chicago City Clerk Anna Valencia. “He is out here for himself and to get this Senate seat and crown himself king, just like Donald Trump – and we're not going to stand for it. We have long memories. We know who's been with us in our communities. We know who is fighting for us and is doing it for the people…so I'm proud to support the Lieutenant Governor for Senate.”

“The latest poll shows Juliana surging and Raja losing ground, and suddenly millions in dark, MAGA aligned, super PAC money are flooding in. They think they can scare her. They think they can buy this seat. But no amount of dark money can hide a weak record on ICE,” said Alderwoman Leni Manaa-Hoppenworth. “No amount of corporate cash can drown out the people of Illinois. In fact, Raja should demand those ads be taken down and denounce that MAGA money. If he won't, that speaks louder than any smear ads that can run. There's a difference between building movements based on trust and just building war chests. Juliana knows that difference.”
