OLIVE -HARVEY COLLEGE JUSTICE CENTER SHORT FILM FESTIVAL
Attend a special Black History Month screening of the newly-released documentary film, Against the Current at Malcolm X College (Auditorium) on February 18, 2026 from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
In the film, Kyla, a high school senior and community organizer in Chicago, journeys across the state of Illinois in search of ways that Black people have resisted oppression across time. A short program will complement the film.
“At Malcolm X College, we believe education must extend beyond the classroom and engage the lived experiences of our communities,” said President David Sanders, Malcolm X College. “Hosting Against the Current during Black History Month creates space for reflection, dialogue, and learning by highlighting the resilience, leadership, and ongoing struggle for justice within Black communities across Chicago and beyond. We are proud to offer this opportunity free and open to the public.”
