Content Creator Connects Entrepreneurs And Creatives Through Networking Event

By Tia Carol Jones

Jordan Sweet has built an audience as a content creator, and he is using his platform to highlight people and places in the community. As a multihyphenate, Sweet has been able to bridge the gap between the community and businesses and telling impactful stories.

Sweet is a digital marketing strategist, actor, model and content creator. While he is from Los Angeles, Sweet has been working in Chicago, uplifting the community and being mentored by people here. As a young professional, he has been able to meet some amazing people through networking and his job as a digital marketing strategist. It has also enabled him to upskill and have great conversations. He wants other young entrepreneurs, influencers and content creators to have the opportunity to connect and network.

Sweet, in partnership with Waymaker Media hosted The Exchange: Powering Dreams, Building Legacies, at the Bronzeville Winery on Friday, Aug. 29th. The evening included networking, a live panel featuring the head chef and manager of the Bronzeville Winery. The event was a celebration of Black Business Month, which is recognized in August.

Sweet said there is a perception that there is not a space for young Black professionals and creatives to connect in the city of Chicago. He wants to turn that notion on its head by hosting this event and is looking to do more events in the future. He considers himself as someone who finds solutions to problems he sees, for himself, and the world around him.

“Through my experience, through my mentors, I’ve been poured into, it’s only right for me to give back,” he said.

Sweet used his platform to highlight Black owned businesses in Chicago during the month of August for National Black Month. He was posting on his social media and on Waymaker Media to highlight businesses like Semicolon Bookstore, Muse Coffee Studio and Culture Connection 360.

Sweet said the event allowed the attendees to leave inspired, impacted and with a substantial amount of contacts through networking. He said it was his hope before the event for people to be uplifted and figure out how they could be purposeful in the world and find out their ‘why’.

“Waymaker and myself are all about making a way, by providing this event, this is our gift to people making a way,” he said.

Sweet was introduced to Waymaker a couple of years ago when he attended their Waymaker Conference. He has been following Louis Carr’s career and wanted to connect with him. That connection led to him creating the content that is on their platform for National Black Business Month.

Sweet said as a Black content creator, he uses his lifestyle and curates his content towards his 12,000 followers to show everything from fashion to where to eat. He has become a trusted messenger and a go-to person for his followers because he has established himself through his authenticity. He is an official creator on Instagram and Snapchat.
