ALDERMAN COLEMAN AND CHRISTMAS IN THE WARDS
LAUNCH EMERGENCY FOOD RELIEF EFFORT IN ENGLEWOOD

Go Green Community Fresh Market, 1207 W. 63rd St, Chicago IL
(Chicago, IL) Stephanie Coleman – Alderwoman of Chicago’s 16th Ward- will be joined by 3rd Ward Alderman Pat Dowell, community leaders, elected officials, and Go Green Community Fresh Market executives in an emergency response to the recent shutdown of the federally funded SNAP program. Alderman Coleman, along with the team from the Christmas in the Wards Organization, will distribute a $50 gift card for GO Green Community Fresh Market customers beginning at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 1st, 2025.
The generosity of the Alderman and other leaders is geared to address the food insecurity crisis impacting numerous communities throughout Chicago. The giveaway also aims to ease the sudden financial strain on families and seniors following the expiration of emergency SNAP benefits, which has drastically reduced monthly food budgets for thousands of residents. The federal cuts have created an urgent need for support in food-insecure communities like Englewood.
To provide immediate relief, the first 100 attendees will receive a $50 voucher to be used directly at the Go Green Community Fresh Market for fresh, healthy groceries. This initiative directly addresses food scarcity by injecting resources into a vital local food source.
"The loss of these SNAP benefits is hitting our families hard, and we cannot stand by while our community goes hungry," said Alderman Stephanie Coleman. "This giveaway, in partnership with Christmas in the Wards, is about ensuring our residents have access to nutritious food right now. We are asking everyone to spread the word and come out to receive this much-needed support."
Christmas in the Wards is dedicated to supporting Chicago's families through the holiday season and beyond, and their collaboration underscores the severity of the current crisis.
