ALDERMAN COLEMAN WELCOMES ENGLEWOOD’S FIRST 24 HOUR POST-COVID RESTAURANT AS PART OF THE MUCH ANTICIPATED 63RD STREET PROJECT

HISTORIC EXPANSION OF OPERATING  HOURS MOVE BY McDONALD’S IN ENGLEWOOD VIEWED AS MAJOR STEP TOWARDS REVITALIZATION OF POPULAR INTERSECTION

The City of Chicago is collaborating with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) to redevelop the existing lots owned by CTA at 6315 S. Ashland

(Chicago, IL) Stephanie Coleman- Alderman of the 16th Ward- recently was joined by officials from the City of Chicago, Chicago Transit Authority, Representatives from McDonald Restaurant, and Englewood residents in a McDonalds Ribbon Cutting and a City of Chicago announcement of a multi-million-dollar development of 63rd and Ashland in Chicago.

McDonalds is expanding its business operations to 24 hours. It has provided consistent revenue by being able to serve diverse customer needs around the clock, from early morning commuters to late-night dinners, and has offered a unique competitive advantage by becoming a reliable local staple for all-day dining. The owner of the 63rd and Ashland 24 hours McDonalds is Mr. Sargon Mando

Here are some of the highlights that this change has created not only for my business but for the community:

• Available and inclusive to all customers to provide a convenient, reliable, safe and affordable meal to anyone 24 hrs./ day.

• Created approximately 28 new Shifts per week just for the overnight Shift

• Always hiring smiling faces, additional revenue always requires additional labor coverage

• More employees can now take advantage of our company offerings such as Archways to  Opportunity Tuition programs and Affordable subsidized college and English classes through English under the Arches.

The goal of the Englewood McDonalds goal is that by offering consistent service at any time, the restaurant can become an indispensable part of the community, fostering a loyal customer base that knows they can rely on the local restaurant.

In addition, Alderman Coleman is truly excited to announce the central rationale that led to McDonald’s decision which involves the City of Chicago collaborating with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) to redevelop the existing surface parking lot owned by CTA at 6315 S. Ashland Avenue and 6330 S. Justine St., as well as multiple City-owned parcels at 1509 & 1515-19 W. 63 St., 1535 W. 63 St., 6306 S. Justine St., and 1607-19 W. 63 St. The 10 parcels comprise three development clusters totaling approximately 117,455 square feet.

These clusters present a unique opportunity to develop multiple equitable, transit-oriented buildings in the West Englewood community, adjacent to the Ashland-63rd CTA Green Line station and bus terminal and neighborhood anchors such as the West Englewood Public Library, the 7th District Police Station, Kennedy King College, and Lindblom Math and

Science Academy.

“This is such a historic day in Englewood given the expansion of operating hours of McDonalds and the mega CTA Development that will lead to more businesses being constructed at 63rd and Ashland.” says Alderman Coleman.

Alderman Coleman adds, “McDonalds has joined other businesses in embracing my mission to defeat any negative stereotypes of Englewood. We not only deserve a 24-hour restaurant, but we have proven as a community to successfully support our local businesses. I'm very grateful to the owner, Mr. Sargon Mando and his team of professionals."
