APPOINTMENT SYSTEM TO IMPROVE EFFICIENCY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE
Building on positive customer reviews, Clerk Monica Gordon is expanding a new appointment-based system for Vital Records services to better serve residents in the western and northern suburbs in a continuing effort to modernize the services of the Cook County Clerk’s Office.
Starting October 27, the new digital system will be implemented at Clerk’s offices at the Maywood (1311 Maybrook Square) and Skokie (5600 W. Old Orchard Road) court locations. The new system will streamline access to essential documents such as birth, death, marriage certificates, and other vital records documents.
Following positive feedback from residents after its initial rollout at the Markham Courthouse in September, the system is now part of a broader modernization effort to reduce wait times and enhance the overall customer experience.
“This is a major step toward a smarter, faster, and more efficient Clerk’s Office,” said Clerk Gordon. “By embracing modern tools and automation, we are reducing inefficiencies and working to ensure that our residents receive timely and respectful service.”
How It Works
Under the new system, all visitors seeking vital records services will be required to schedule an appointment. The Clerk’s Office is offering flexible options to provide an accessible experience for all customers.
Book in Advance: The Clerk’s Office is encouraging customers to schedule appointments online in advance at cookcountyclerk.com/vitals, with options to schedule an appointment in coming days.
Schedule Onsite via QR Code: Upon arrival, customers can scan a QR code and quickly schedule their appointment using their mobile device.
Onsite Assistance for All Customers: For those without internet or smartphone access, trained staff will be available to help residents schedule appointments using a laptop at the service counter.
Clerk Gordon also recently introduced an appointment system at the Clerk’s main Vital Records and Recording Operations offices in downtown Chicago. The system allows customers to check in using a self-service kiosk or on their mobile phone and then receive a text message when their number is called for service.
