Security Traders Association of Chicago to Host 2025 Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament

Annual fundraiser supports the STAC Fund’s Chicagoland scholarship and community service initiatives

The Security Traders Association of Chicago (STAC), a membership organization for professionals in the securities industry and an affiliate of The Security Traders Association (STA), will host its annual STAC Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at Gibsons Bar & Steakhouse.

This highly anticipated fundraising event brings together members, sponsors and the broader securities community for an evening of high-stakes poker, Vegas-style casino games and world-class hospitality - all to benefit the STAC Fund’s mission of philanthropy and education.

STAC is partnering this year with Poker Power, an organization that helps individuals master the mindset of poker to lead with confidence, make more strategic decisions, and take smarter risks in business and in life. Poker Power will host a complimentary 45-minute crash course from 5:15 – 6:00 pm for all attendees who want to learn the basics or brush up on their skills before the tournament officially begins at 6:15 pm.

“The STAC Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament has become our marquee fundraising event thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and members,” said James Bohrer, STAC Board of Directors Member and Director, Real Time Data - Americas at LSEG. “This event allows us to expand our philanthropic impact across Chicagoland, supporting students in their educational goals and giving back to the community. Partnering with Poker Power again this year adds a unique and valuable dimension, helping players at every level gain confidence, whether at the poker table or in the boardroom.”

Proceeds from the tournament support the STAC Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 1991 to provide scholarships and give back to charitable and educational institutions. Over the past decade, the STAC Fund has contributed more than $500,000 in donations and awards, fueled by the generosity of STAC members, sponsors and friends.

Doors open at 5:00 pm, with a full Gibsons dinner, open bar, raffles and networking included for all players and spectators. Registration is open and sponsorship opportunities remain available for organizations that wish to support the event and STAC’s philanthropic mission.
