 U.S. CONGRESSMAN RAJA KRISHNAMMOORTHI RECEIVES

HUGE ENDORSEMENT FROM PASTOR JOHN HARRELL

KRISHNAMMOORTHI THEN RETURNS ENDORSEMENT TO HARRELL

IN HIS RUN FOR ILLINOIS STATE REPRESENTATIVE

(Chicago, IL) John Harrell- CEO of Black Men United – was joined by westside community civic and clergy leaders in a unified embrace and engagement of U.S Congressman Raja Krishnammoorthi. Pastor Harrell, who is also a candidate for Illinois State Representative of the 8th District,  openly endorsed Congressman Raja. In return, Congressman Raja endorsed Harrell’s campaign. The event took place on Monday, October 6, 2025 at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church located at 116 S. Central in Chicago

This marks a significant step forward in Congressman Raja Krishnammoorthi’s race for U.S. Senate in that Pastor Harrell is one of the most influential and progressive clergymen in Illinois.

“There are well qualified, intelligent, and knowledgeable African American women running against Congressman Raja for this seat. However, it is apparent that two powerful women of color vying for the same seat is not a winning formula for our community. Congressman Raja has effectively touted his resume and plan of action should he be elected. Moreover, he has not been a stranger to our community and has delivered mightily for our people.” says Pastor Harrell.

Pastor Harrell was joined by a significant group of African American civic and clergy leaders who agreed with Pastor Harrell that the black community can ill afford to allow the obvious split between the two African American candidates to prevent them from understanding who Congressman Raja is and his plans to enhance the quality of life for African Americans throughout Illinois.

Congressman Krishnammoorthi.  also enthusiastically announced his support and endorsement of Pastor Harrell’s candidacy for Illinois State Representative of the 8th District. He is running to replace the outgoing Representative LaShawn Ford who recently announce his candidacy for U.S. Congress of the 7th District of Illinois.

The two men along with the mass group of leaders collectively distributed quality of life items to hundreds of needy families. The items include toiletries, Diapers, Disinfect wipes, and other essential relief supplies.
