Chicago State University, PGA Jr. Opportunity League and Project Love Chicago Announce the Junior Golf Summer Camp
CHICAGO, Ill. – The PGA Jr. Opportunity League in partnership with Project LOVE Chicago is excited to announce the launch of the Junior Golf Summer Camp that will be hosted by Chicago State University.
"I'm particularly excited about the opportunity to teach both the fundamentals and the importance of sportsmanship," said CSU Director of Golf Jean Macon, "Golf is as much about character as it is about technique, and we want to help shape not only skilled players but also respectful and responsible individuals. Our camp is designed to boost their confidence and inspire a love for the game."
Statement from Curtis Henderson, Executive Director of Project LOVE Chicago
"At Project LOVE Chicago, our mission is to open doors for youth to explore opportunities that can shape their future. This partnership with Chicago State University and the PGA Jr. Opportunity League is about more than learning a new sport—it's about access to a world many of our youth have never seen. Golf presents a powerful pathway to college scholarships, professional networks, and business opportunities that can change the trajectory of a young person's life. By breaking down barriers to this game, we're also building character—teaching patience, discipline, and resilience. Together, we're not just teaching kids how to play golf; we're empowering them to see themselves as future leaders, scholars, and champions of their own lives."
This program provides 28 full scholarships, covering all expenses for selected participants. No Golf Clubs Required.
Scholarships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
The camp is open to campers ages 13-17 and will take place at Harborside International Golf Center.
Transportation will be provided from Chicago State University to Harborside Internation Golf Center.
The camp will take place on July 22nd, July 29th, August 5th, August 12th and August 14th from 2-5 p.m.

Project LOVE Chicago was founded to create a "Life of Value and Equality" for minorities in underfunded communities in Chicago. Chicago faces a complex set of problems that stem from lack of adequate opportunities and resources for minorities. While many Americans flock to big cities like Chicago to find good jobs and desirable living; these opportunities remain disproportionately out of reach for Chicago's black residents.
Project LOVE Chicago will prepare minorities with critical employment skills, helping lower unemployment rates within minority communities while simultaneously increasing employment rates. Project LOVE Chicago's program outreach will put children on a path towards success and help lower prison population rates amongst minorities. Getting in front of children at an early age will also help us better prepare them for occupational opportunities that pay higher wages.
