2024 Cook County Tax Rates Released
Second-Installment Bills due December 15, 2025
The Clerk’s Office has completed the calculation of 2024 property tax rates for nearly 1,000 taxing agencies in Cook County and released its annual tax rate report Friday.
Property tax bills were mailed on November 14, following numerous delays stemming from the County’s implementation of new Integrated Property Tax System, which replaces a legacy mainframe that has been in use since the early 1970s.
Total Tax Billed Continues to Increase Year Over Year
Once again, the total property tax billed for taxing districts in Cook County continues to steadily increase. Last year the total tax billed was $18.3 billion, this year the total tax billed is approximately $19.2 billion. This 4.7% increase is due to several factors such as assessed values, taxing district levies, and the state-issued equalization factor.
