(Robbins, Ill) Darren Bryant- Mayor of Robbins, Illinois- will be joined by the Robbins Village Board, Robbins Eagles Coaching staff, regional elected officials, and residents as they gather to witness the public unveiling of the all-new Robbins Eagles Football field. However, the group will also make a public appeal for people to donate towards the organization amid the recent theft of football equipment in which the young players need to start the season.
The young boys of the Robbins Eagles Football Program are emotionally drained and stunned following the theft of nearly 12k worth of football equipment from their storage container this past weekend. The theft, which included 60 helmets, shoulder pads, and training equipment, occurred just weeks before the start of the season. Coaches have expressed their uncertainty over the loss and the effect on the team as they prepare for a new season. The team has established a GoFundMe page to raise dollars for new equipment.
“As a community of believers, we will not just stand idle and allow the dreams of these young boys to be ignored. I’m calling upon our business leaders and others to join me in raising dollars to ensure that the Robbins Eagles start the new season on the right foot.” Says Mayor Bryant.
The Robbins Eagles were undefeated last year and are seeking to repeat that accomplishment. The regular season begins August 23rd. The all-new stadium was built after a long but very necessary lobbying campaign by Mayor Bryant and the Village board.
