CHICAGO POLICE DEPARTMENT RELEASES STRATEGY FOR ORGANIZATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Three-year plan outlines four foundations that guide CPD’s public safety efforts
CHICAGO — The Chicago Police Department (CPD) today released its Strategy for Organizational Excellence. The plan is a three-year roadmap that represents CPD long-term vision for creating a department that can meet the diverse needs of the city.
"The initiatives outlined within the plan not only address immediate challenges but also lay the groundwork for a sustainable future,” said CPD Superintendent Larry Snelling. “These foundations serve as the framework upon which we can ensure long-term success in fulfilling our mission.”
The strategic plan sets forth four foundations that guide the department’s vision for the future.
The four foundations include:
Building, Supporting and Developing Our Workforce
Key strategies: Build Our Workforce, Support Our Workforce and Develop Our Workforce
Community Trust
Key strategies: Equity and Engagement, Support for Victims and Survivors and External Education and Awareness
Neighborhood Safety
Key strategies: Provide Equitable Police Services, Expand Partnerships and Advance Technology and Innovation
Organizational Infrastructure
Key strategies: Reinforce Training and Skills, Create Culture of Sustainability and Enhance Management Skills
Progress has already been made in many areas of this plan, including crime victim support, expanding partnerships, training and technology. These strategies set clear expectations on how CPD is moving forward to address both immediate and future needs of both the department and all Chicagoans.
