Doctor’s Transformative Journey Leads to Luxury Lifestyle Brand

Dr. Jeannie Jacobs spent more than two decades as an OB/GYN, delivering babies and supporting women with reproductive care.
She said throughout the years being a physician had become harder and harder, with corporations and businesses trying to tell physicians how to care for patients. Also, the politicalization of medicine stifled the standard of care physicians could give patients.
It was during the COVID-19 pandemic, having to deal with a very difficult patient, that Jacobs decided that it was her last shift in the labor and delivery unit. She threw away her doctor’s hat, coat and goggles, got in her car and never ever looked back at the hospital. Jacobs has been out of her medical practice for about three years.
Jacobs has created her luxury lifestyle brand, ‘Just Jeannie’, to have a platform where she felt respected, cared for and supported, that aligned with her own personal values.
“I just knew what my purpose was, things became clearer,” she said.
Jacobs was selling real estate and using her social media platforms to show people beautiful homes and home décor. She decided to post what she did on a daily basis – cooking, cleaning, gardening and decorating – and her social media started to grow. She woke up one morning and she had more than 23,000 followers. She uses Just Jeannie as a way to show people that they can live authentically and be themselves unapologetically. She said the reason why she was able to do that was because she had clarity and purpose in her life, she knew where she needed to be and where she was going, so it allowed her to be herself and not be hindered by anything.
Jacobs created a home fragrance line. She gave it the name ‘Pivotal Moments’ because it took a pivotal moment for her to find clarity and her purpose, and to branch out while knowing that no one could stop her from being who she is.
“This home fragrance collection, it’s a journey, and that journey began with my first fragrance, Luminosity,” she said.
The first candle, Luminosity, is dear to her heart, it mirrors life’s challenges and joys and is inspired by “This Little Light of Mine.” That song is one that she has been singing since she was a toddler. For her, Luminosity is not just a scent, it is a celebration of growth, resilience and undying light, which was the clarity and purpose that she found. Each note in that fragrance represents a chapter in people’s lives. The lemon represents clarity and purpose, a new beginning; lime represents the zest of life; bergamot, represents the blending of the bittersweet moments in a person’s life; jasmine represents the joy; and lily of the valley represents the peace a person receives when they accept the change around them and peace overcomes them.
Her advice for those who are seeking to create a social media presence and platform is for them to find their purpose, be clear on who they are and what they are doing, to do things that align with their purpose. She said finding clarity and purpose is the hardest part, because it means a person has to change their mindset. She said it is something that takes time. For her, she had to step out of the box and not conform. By stepping out of her box, she found that she liked selling real estate and home décor.
“It was so easy for me to say no to things that didn’t align with my purpose,” she said. She added that being resilient is another part of it, being able to adapt to change can enable a person to move forward. It can also help a person start to really grow.
Another aspect of Jacob’s transformation was support. She had to find her tribe, she advises that people get out of their social constructs to find the people who are for them and are with them. They understand the person and can walk the mile and pick them up when they need it. Jacobs also embraced innovation, polishing her skills and figuring out what skills she needed to get to the next level. The skills she didn’t have, she hired people who did have them to help her.
For those who are setting out on the social media platform journey who are concerned about their finances, Jacobs advises them to save more and spend less, and if needed, find an additional source of income.
“It’s not about the things, luxury to me is all about finding those meaningful moments that bring clarity and purpose to your life, because that’s so essential to who we are. Not everyone can get to that point in their lives. Anybody can buy a purse, that fancy car or that big house, but actually finding that clarity and purpose puts you far ahead,” she said.
