(Tinley Park, IL) Calvin Jordan- Rich Township Supervisor- will be joined by multiple Illinois State Senators, multiple Illinois State Representatives, various South Suburban Mayors, and over 400 Cook County residents in celebrating veterans from throughout Cook County as part of the Rich Township Annual Living Legends Luncheon.
However, this year’s gala will feature 11 different 90 year plus old veterans who have served in military wars ranging from the Korean war to the Vietnam war. They will speak publicly to the sold out crowd of the importance of voting and the dangerous state in which our country could potentially find itself if the wrong person is elected.
93-year-old army veteran Levy Pierce served in the United States Army and earned the rank of private. He was drafted in 1958. Private Pierce is particularly concerned about the warnings that former Five Star Generals and high-ranking Military Defense Advisors have publicly expressed about the former 47th President of the United States.
“I served our country with honor and pride. My fellow veterans fought hard to protect our borders. To now hear from top military brass of the mental fitness of the former 47th President is concerning to all of us. Additionally, it would be a slap in the face to every veteran to see our military accomplishments weakened and potentially compromised.”
Hundreds of military veterans will be honored and properly saluted by Cook County officials and residents. A spectacular meal will be provided as well as gifts and other surprises. Special dedications will be presented to those who served in Vietnam.
Rich Township Supervisor Calvin Jordan adds, “We are grateful to these American jewels that have sacrificed themselves for the upward mobility and safety of our nation. While we were asleep, they stayed awake in some of the most dangerous places in the world protecting our freedom. This annual event is organized to ensure that every veteran knows that their efforts are appreciated and will never be forgotten.
"We all owe a debt of gratitude to our beloved veterans. I am thankful that the state of Illinois has made significant progress in how we care for our military veterans. However, we need to continue and never stop in our collective quest to create more programs and services to aid all of our veterans in their daily lives. Our commitment must remain steadfast and firm." says Illinois State Representative Debbie Meyers-Martin.
