ILLINOIS TOLLWAY AWARDS MORE THAN $192 MILLION IN CONTRACTS FOR CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING SERVICES IN JUNE
New $184 million contract approved for continuation of I-490/IL390 Interchange construction
DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. – The Illinois Tollway Board of Directors approved three construction and professional engineering services contracts totaling more than $192 million at its June Board meeting, including a $184 million contract to support continued construction of the new I-490/Illinois Route 390 Interchange.
More than $307 million in contracts has been approved by the Tollway Board in 2024, as part of the 13th year of the Tollway’s 16-year, $15 billion Move Illinois capital program. The Tollway’s capital program calls for investing $1.4 billion in 2024, including eight contracts set aside for small businesses.
“Approval of this contract helps advance work on the massive new I-490/IL 390 Interchange that when complete will be a game changer for travel and access on the west side of O’Hare International Airport,” said Illinois Tollway Executive Director Cassaundra Rouse. “Six flyover ramps will be built under this contract to carry traffic over York Road, the Canadian Pacific Kansas City Railway and the Union Pacific Railroad and into the airport as we work to create long-awaited western access.”
