Gets Big Endorsement
Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner, Mariyana Spyropoulos, received the coveted endorsement of the Chicago Federation of Labor for her campaign to be the next circuit court clerk. Spyropoulos is challenging incumbent Iris Martinez, who won the seat after long time clerk Dorothy Brown decided not to seek reelection.
The Chicago Federation of Labor has a history of fighting for economic, social and racial justice for all working people in Chicago and Cook County for 125 years. The union's endorsement brings with it boots on the ground.
"This is a huge step forward for my campaign, the men and women of the labor movement will help power the grassroots outreach we need to win on Election Day," says Spyropoulos. "They also can help us reach their 300 affiliated unions and half a million members."
So far, Spyropoulos has received the endorsement of over 115 labor groups, community groups, elected officials, community leaders and Democratic organizations.
Early voting for the March 19, 2024 primary begins in Chicago Feb. 15 and in Cook County Feb. 21.
