PROVEN RESULTS AND UNMATCHED EXPERIENCE
JONES CONTINUES TRADITION ON DELIVERY OF MUNICIPAL RESOURCES, SUPPORT FOR PUBLIC SAFETY, HEALTHCARE, AND RIGHTS FOR WOMEN
MILLIONS OF DOLLARS DELIVERED TO THE 29TH LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT
Thaddeus M. Jones- Illinois State Representative of the 29th Legislative District- is primed, energized, and fully prepared for the stretch run for re-election for State Representative.
“Upon being elected in 2011, I committed to providing employment opportunities for all Illinoisans, making our streets safer, providing opportunities for our children to receive a world class education and to fight to ensure that underserved communities do not get left behind.
I stand here 13 years later and can proudly say that we have shown our commitment to education by ensuring that our schools receive more funding. We have worked to change the way we fund education to ensure that our children are treated equally and fairly. We have fought to protect teachers, and we have worked closely with our local community colleges to improve educational opportunities and programs.
A legislator’s commitment can be defined by his or her ability to bring back dollars that enhances the quality of life for residents. I am thrilled to say that throughout the 29th legislative district, we have delivered the necessary dollars to sustain, enhance and support the creation of innovative programs to our various local governments, schools, and social services. “says Representative Jones.
The veteran lawmaker has enjoyed much success during his tenure in Springfield. He has been a champion in the fight for women’s reproductive rights and access to healthcare. Throughout his legislative career, Representative Jones has been supported by Personal Pac and other numerous women’s advocacy groups.
Representative Jones adds, “For the past 11 years as your State Representative, I have taken the struggles, successes, and core values of women to Springfield and fought to sustain and enhance the accomplishments that has propelled women to higher roles in government and business. But I have also added to my mission to protect the rights of women by ensuring that our society protects a woman’s right to choose.
We are now experiencing an assault on a freedom that most Americans thought was secure. That is why I have been on the frontline of such fights including the passage of the Reproductive Healthcare Act that solidifies a woman’s right to “self-determination” in making her own healthcare decisions.
But I want to make it very clear that I am reenergized, primed, and ready as ever fight to protect the rights of women throughout the 29th legislative district and throughout Illinois.”
In 2021, Representative Jones successfully sponsored and passed through the General Assembly the Tamara Clayton Expressway Camera Act, which required the state to install new cameras on expressways. At that time, the expressway cameras were low-definition and did not record video. The act was named for a postal worker who was shot and killed on her way to work on Interstate 57 in 2019. Later in the year Illinois Governor JB Pritzker signed the act into law. Representative Jones was the Chief Sponsor of the bill.
Representative Jones adds, “The cameras will not necessarily stop the shootings on expressways but will be used as a tool to catch those people who are using our expressways as their own personal shooting range. I want the criminals who commit these senseless crimes to know that they will be apprehended and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
