CONGRESSMAN DANNY K. DAVIS INVITES COMMUNITY TO THE 45TH ANNUAL BACK TO SCHOOL PICNIC AND PARADE ON AUGUST 31

Chicago, IL – Congressman Danny K. Davis is proud to invite the residents of the 7th Congressional District and surrounding communities to the 45th Annual Back to School Picnic and Parade on Saturday, August 31, 2024. This much-anticipated event will take place at Columbus Park (5800 W. Jackson) and promises to be a day filled with excitement, community spirit, and preparation for the upcoming school year.

The day kicks off at 10:00 AM with a parade starting at the intersection of Bloomingdale and Central, showcasing our vibrant community and its commitment to supporting the education and well-being of our children. Following the parade, the picnic will run from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Columbus Park, featuring a wide array of activities and services that are free and open to the public.

This year’s event will include:

- Technology in the Park featuring a raffle of 73 Laptops: At the Technology Tent, 73 laptops will be raffled off to students, providing them with essential tools for their educational journey.

o Volcano Coding, General AI, Robotics


- Health fair including basic screenings and handouts



- Book Bags and School Supplies: Thanks to our generous sponsors, students can receive book bags and a variety of school supplies to help them start the school year on the right foot.


- Fun, Food, and Beverages: Families can enjoy delicious hotdogs, beverages, and other refreshments while participating in fun games and activities designed to entertain and engage everyone.

"This picnic and parade are about coming together as a community, supporting our youth, and having a great time doing it."
