1,200 Students To Receive Backpacks and School Supplies at Final ‘Peace In The Streets’ Summer Block Party on August 24
CHICAGO – 1-800-TruckWreck and iHeart Media Chicago are partnering up for a final “Peace In The Streets” block party with St. Sabina Catholic Church to give local families one last celebration before going back to school. The event will take place Saturday, August 24 from noon to 3 p.m. at St. Sabina Catholic Church (1210 West 78th Place, Chicago, IL 60620) in Auburn Gresham. 1-800-TruckWreck will be giving away 1,200 backpacks filled with school supplies like pens, pencils, notebooks, and binders. There will also be free haircuts for the kids, a DJ, family-friendly activities, free food, and more!
“These summer block parties have become one of the events our team most looks forward to every year in Chicago,” shares Amy Witherite, owner of Witherite Law Group and 1-800-TruckWreck. “We are proud of the partnerships we have created with iHeart Media Chicago and organizations like St. Sabina who work tirelessly to support and give back to the local communities. It will be exciting to hand out the school supplies at this month’s event.”
During a time when finances are tight for many families, these supplies help relieve some of the financial burden the school year places on parents in underserved communities. The hope is to set students up to have a successful academic year as much as possible.
“Joining hands with Amy Witherite for the 107.5 WGCI ‘Peace In The Streets’ initiative is more than a partnership; it’s a powerful fusion of passion and purpose, igniting hope and harmony in the heart of Chicago,” said Matt Scarano, President of iHeartMedia Chicago. “Together, we are not just creating an event; we are crafting a legacy of peace for the streets that need it most.”
Entertainment for the weekend festivities will be provided by the 107.5 WGCI team, featuring a live DJ and karaoke provided by We’re Brothers Karaoke. In addition to free food, free haircuts, and free school supplies, the event will also feature kid-friendly activities, including bounce houses, yard games, and giveaways. Local organizations and businesses will be sharing a wealth of resources and information on upcoming programming as well as providing activities and services.
All the food and activities available throughout the event are completely FREE to the public.
Created in 2017 by iHeartMedia Chicago and 107.5 WGCI, “Peace In The Streets” was established to inspire peace in underserved communities throughout Chicago and show neighbors that they have the support of their local broadcast stations.
